South Loop is Chicago’s “it” spot for new residential development. Condominium and loft builders have taken the area’s vacant lots by storm in recent years and the result is a flourishing new construction home market that has caught the attention of first-time buyers and second home investors alike. Residences within the community range from exclusive condos with legendary architecture to luxurious generous penthouses offering over 3,000 square feet of living space. Many homes offer breathtaking panoramic park and lake views from private balconies, rooftop decks, and floor-to-ceiling windows.
The South Loop is one of Chicago’s biggest tourist destinations because it is home to Grant Park, which is famous for its huge outdoor summer festivals, concerts and events. On the 57-acre lakefront park just south of the Loop are three of the world’s famous museums dedicated to the natural sciences: the Field Museum of Natural History, Shedd’s Aquarium and Adler Planetarium; within an area known as the Museum Campus. The Museum Campus community was created to transform the district of these three institutions into a scenic pedestrian-friendly area. The area is landscaped with flowers and foliage as well as jogging trails and walkways.
Beautiful condos, townhouses, and flat-apartments grace the Museum Campus area. Take your pet for a nice walk outside or make a quick run to Super Target or Whole, right down the street on Roosevelt. Chicago Bear fans will be happy to know Soldier Field is right there, too, where the Bears play all their home games.
“Sue”, the world’s largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton ever found is located at the Field Museum. The Shedd Aquarium is the world's largest indoor aquarium with more than 8,000 aquatic animals representing more than 700 species from all over the world.
The South Loop is still growing, and while several upscale eateries have already appeared in the neighborhood, many more are on the way. Among the dining choices are: Opera, Gioco, Kroll’s South Loop, Chicago Firehouse Grill and Prairie Rose Restaurant. Even though South Park is fairly new, it has an active community organization called the “South Loop Neighbors”. They organize activities like the Annual Loft Walk, which is a tour of several private residences in the area and an Annual Photo Show.
For those seeking to rent or own in an area where you can escape the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy the tranquil view of lakes, parks, nearby restaurants, shopping and cultural attractions that lie right outside your doorstep: the South Loop area is just for you.
